CMS proposes National Payment of Health and Well-being Coaching Services starting CY 2027
CMS's 2027 proposed rule is a most consequential moment for our field following 7 years of collective advocacy: national payment for health and well-being coaching services (0591T, 0592T, 0593T). In two new LinkedIn articles, Coach Meg describes what comes next in requests for improvements to the payment policy and larger policy opportunities that can empower people to improve their health. We will describe our recommendations and offer guidance on assembling and submitting your personalized comments to CMS due September 14th.

Crossing the Threshold: Coaching Is Healthcare describes health and well-being coaching as an evidence-based clinical service.
Crossing the Threshold: Healthcare Is Empowerment goes further. CMS asked for input on redesigning the Annual Wellness Visit and the Chronic Care Management program. We propose to broaden CMS’s use of the term empowerment (activate, engage, sustain) to help people improve health in a cost effective way.
